Shortcuts are a pretty basic tool to use in any rts games, Company of Heroes is no different. It's an excellent way to get better with your main chosen army, by playing all of the armies in the game. If you're not able to counter a certain strategy/unit combination, simply play as that army, use it against someone else and see if they are able to counter it, then learn from how they played. On the other hand if you play as most armies and are very familiar with them all, you'll learn the best strategies in the game and what to do in certain situations much easier. However this can also be a disadvantage as you're not able to see how other players play as this certain army and counter certain strategies, you only have yourself to compare to.

Often players can be fixated on playing only as one army and focusing purely on that faction so they can get better and better at it. This will teach you the strengths and weaknesses of all armies in the game, which abilities work great and which ones don't work very good at all. One of the basic rules in any rts is to be familiar with every army in the game, this means not only playing against every faction but playing AS every faction. Regardless the aim I had when writing this was to give advice to all players in CoH in the hope it would improve your game and ultimately help you to become a better CoH player. If you're already well established as a player and win most games with ease then you may want to skip to some parts that will interest you more.
